Level Design Coursework
A downloadable game for Windows
These projects were designed and built over a 3 month summer course period for the University of Utah class EAE 3100 - Level Design. Each project had 2 in class playtests where I received feedback directly used to improve the level.
Project #1 - Location Study:
For this project we were tasked with studying a real world location and using it for inspiration on a level design project. I used my high school and combined it with hallways on my college campus. It was built in Unreal Engine 5.
Project #2 - Side Scroller
For this project we found a side scroller game to be inspired by and worked to build a level with similar mechanics or genre. I chose Hollow Knight. For this project I got excited for and carried away with building mechanics and ended up with quite a few in a metroidvania unlock style. It was built in Godot.
Project #3 - Final Project
For this project we selected one more advanced mechanic to build for our level and then were recommended to be inspired by other games. I chose to make a grapple mechanic and based my level on stealth games like Dishonored or Spider-Man (2018). It was built in Unreal Engine 5.
